This article deals with a forgery affair that took place in the province of Drenthe from 1899 until about 1901, but which still had its consequences in the 1960's. Of course the Provinciaal Museum van Drenthe acquired the most (remarkable) objects but the Rijksmuseum van Oudheden (Leiden) and perhaps other museums abroad also received a number of forgeries.
