Samenvatting

In this article five recently published Dutch introductions to sociology are discussed. To discuss the introductions to sociology four criteria are given: (1) the introduction should give a clear picture of the 'state-of-the-art' that is after reading students should know what are the main problems sociologists work on; (2) the introduction should tell the way sociologists work, that is what are their tools; (3) it should not be a book about the history of sociology, and (4) probably most important, the beauty of sociology should be shown in the introduction.
