The article presents the author's comments on a comparison of social conditions between the Netherlands and Belgium. The author reflects his views on the state of corruption in the two countries and refers to rankings provided by Transparency International, a Berlin institute that presents annual world rankings on corruption. He also takes into account of the practices of political appointments, bureaucracy and parliamentary party democracy in both of the countries.
