Samenvatting

In this article information from the post-interview and the report of the interviewer is used to evaluate data quality. Four indicators of quality are used: test-items, the amount of information, don't know answers and inconsistent answers. In his or her report, the interviewer evaluates the respondent's motivation and ability to answer the questions. In the post-interview the respondent evaluates the reliability and the utility of the interview. Both sources of information can be used to create a typology of respondents. The first type has ample cognitive skills, is highly motivated and has a positive evaluation of the interview. The second type has problem performing the respondent's role. The respondents of the third type are rather sceptical. This typology is related to the use of the don't know response category and the test-items. The results with the test-items are contrary to expectations. The typology was evaluated with external information.
