Samenvatting
The article discusses the concept of the term role in sociology. Two different definitions were introduced approximately at the same time regarding the term role. In 1934, self and society were assigned the term role, meaning a socialization process. People make themselves the standards of values from their own surroundings by moving itself in the roles of others. In 1936, a sociologist defined the term role as the implementation of the rights and duties which are linked to the positions within a social system. Globally, two approaches of the role term emerged: interactionist and structuralist. The role term is recognizable in the daily life of families.
