Samenvatting

The article focuses on the relation between a sociological research worker and his subject of study. It analyzes two aspects, first, the interpretative combined action of social science and those who are the subject of study. The second aspect concerns the fatal return of sociological descriptions and declarations of everyday living sociological theories to concepts and research findings. Sociological theories and findings cannot be entirely separated, and sociology has to contend with all kinds of difficult methodological problems.
