Samenvatting
Interview data (N = 831 respondents) are used to examine the effects of automation on job structure (JS) in a representative sample of 491 organizations in the Netherlands. Findings reveal few changes in JS, with little evidence of polarization: only in 20% of firms did jobs increase or disappear. It is argued that the (small) variation in JS may be due to features of the automation equipment & not to market conditions, as contingency theory suggests. 5 Tables, 46 References. Modified AA
