Samenvatting
Interpersonal relations and labour turnover. This study is part of an action-research project in the laundry-industry. According to current personnel-management philosophy, positive interpersonal relations on the job make for stability of the labour force, especially as regards women workers. This hypothesis is operationally checked and invalidated bij computing a rank-correlation of popularity-scores according to a sociometric test and follow-up data on personnel exits in a period of five years after. The experimental group consisted of 27 women workers in a laundry plant. The data suggest an alternative hypothesis: Friendships on the job condition labour turnover in this way, that friends tend to follow each other, either in staying on the job or in resigning.
