The article focuses on the views of the author regarding the strengthening of the role of women with special reference to the participation of women at the international conference on population and development that was held in Cairo, Egypt in September 1994. According to the author, by organizing the conference, Nafis Sadik, Secretary-General of the conference, has fulfilled the role model required for implementation of an action programme.
