Samenvatting
To determine how to evaluate the scientific productivity of universities, research groups, & individual sociologists, an analysis was conducted of 2,456 Dutch publications, 1983-1986. It is shown that the variables of multiple authorship & length of publication are not related to productivity level; however, the quality of publications is a key factor. For research groups & schools, this effect is most pronounced for publications written in Dutch, while for individual authors the effect of weighting for quality is strongest in journal articles. 3 Tables, 2 Appendixes, 20 References.
