A reply to SA 1636-B2924. W. F. Wertheim perceives law as an abstraction, affecting society only through psychic means. This concept leads to subjective criteria which are not sociol'ly operable. Required are objective standards rather than a personally experienced psychic phenomenon. Norms should be based on behavior patterns, which are in turn relative. Res in this area is based not on a specific event but on a specific type of event. Even so, sci'fic hyp's can only be tentative. (See also SA A1980, & 1636-B2925). A. Chapman.
