A review of K. Stoyanovitch, MARXISME ET DROIT (1\larxism and Law), Paris, 1964. The contents of Stoyanovitch's work are compared with Valkhoff's thesis as expressed in THE MARXIST CONCEPTION OF LAW AND STATE (Amsterdam, 1928). The important structural changes of law in relation to the state in the 20th cent are discussed. Stoyanovitch's criticism against the class character of law & state is endorsed. Stoyanovitch's view that the Marxist theory of law is mainly a sociol'al one is acknowledged. Modified AA.
