Samenvatting

A study of the special problems of municipal gov in the South Pacific area. Anglo-Saxon & French approaches to local gov are presented; the historical, pol'al, soc, econ & cultural characteristics of South Pacific towns are examined; & the powers & functions of Ur local gov & its financial & representative aspects are discussed. It is concluded that the central gov in that area has created & initiated municipal gov & is responsible for educating the citizens towards it, with adequate staffing being the key factor for further development.
