Commentaries are presented by 3 writers on the book SOCIOLOGIE VAN KERK EN GODSDIENST (Sociology of Church and Worship) by H. & W. Goddijn (Utrecht, the Netherlands: Spectrum, 1966). (1) P. H. Vrijhof says that the authors incorporate religious sociol into cultural & epistemological sociol; they fail to study secularization as a S-cul phenomenon; they reduce religious sociol to an inductive-empirical sci; & they unconsciously reflect certain theological views while consciously ignoring theology. (2) P. Smits queries the authors' tendency to reduce religion to soc interaction & their emphasis on the instit'ization of worship. (3) R. G. Scholten objects to the reduction of the analysis of religious worship to the worshipers' participation, to ignoring more diffused forms of worship, & to neglecting the normative functions of theology.
