Samenvatting
A resume is given of the main Amer & European sociol'al writings in the field of soc aspirations of young children. All those areas which concern occup'al choice, choice of the Sch, achievements at Sch, & norms & values are reduced to the concept of 'achievement motivation' (see D. C. McClelland, THE ACHIEVING SOCIETY, SA 0621/B8446). The influence of the fam on this achievement motivation is particularly investigated. It is asserted that a great part of sociol'al res is concerned with the isolated influences of some characteristics of the fam on the achievement motivation of the child, & does not offer an explanation of the many interrelated factors. It is concluded that a kind of ideal type should be constructed which proceeds from the concept of 'la famille educogene' (the educating fam, see J. E. Floud, 'Social Factors in Educational Achievement,' in A. H. Halsey, Ed, ABILITY AND OCCUPA- TIONAL OPPORTUNITY, 1961), a family which provides optimum achievement motivation for its children. This ideal type must include the diff interrelated factors that explain as a whole this aspect of the child's soc'ization. Modified AA.
