Views of the definition of leisure & a definition based on the free/not free behavior of a free/not free actor
Samenvatting
Thinking about leisure & the use of leisure is a mirror of the more or less conscious ideas, visions of society, ways of thinking & cultural systems of the authors on this subject. The vision of leisure changes with the length of the working day (from K. Marx's Utopian society with unlimited leisure time to the vision of leisure as a problem). The definition of leisure nowadays could be characterized as: (A) leisure as a problem, (B) a positive valuation of an active use of leisure, (C) an antithetic way of thinking (eg, use of leisure now/use of leisure in the past, & leisure/working time), & (D) an inclusive way of thinking (eg, as including freedom). A diff approach to leisure & use of leisure time is preferable to avoid these biases. A system of definitions based on the free/not free behavior of a free/not free actor can be developed in which leisure is defined as the behavior of a free actor. Then, leisure behavior can be oblition (abolished) or libetion (liberated). AA.
