Both the underlying rationale & the favoring evidence of a theory by Ira L. Reiss (see SA 1940/C0710), postulating a positive relation between SC & premarital sexual permissiveness (PSP) for `liberals' & a negative one for `conservatives,' are challenged. 2 alternative rationales are presented before retesting the theory by way of a secondary analysis of a Dutch survey based on a sample (N=1,704) representative for the Dutch pop.
