Spatial relationships are a key component of integration processes, a special type of social change. As the study of ethnic minorities comes to play an important role in sociology, the importance of spatial studies will continue to grow. Spatial isolation often occurs along with social & cultural isolation. Special attention is given to residential segregation, the separation of minorities by neighborhood.
