Samenvatting
To determine whether man always acts in his own economic self-interest by seeking to maximize his own profits, data were obtained from Dutch adults (N = 132, aged 18+) of leftist, centrist, & right-wing political orientations, by having them play a simulated game in which they were to share some of their money with strangers. The amount of money shared was shown to depend on the number of alternatives, the justification of need, the number of participants, & other factors. Little difference was observed between the various political groups. Profit maximization was not the dominant motivating factor for any of the three groups. 3 Tables, 4 Figures, 17 References.
