Using questionnaire data (N = 2,324) from the Netherlands Central Bureau of Statistics (De leefsituatie van de Nederlandse bevolking van 55 jaar en ouder Deel 1: Kerncijfers [The Living Situation of Dutch Citizens Age 55 and Older, Part I: Basic Data], The Hague, 1977), information on type of shelter, household composition, health, leisure activities, & social contacts were analyzed. Loglinear models are developed to relate these variables to the experience of loneliness. The amount & variety of social contacts are the most important factors, followed by health, degree of urbanization, & marital status. 4 Tables, 13 References. Modified HA
