Samenvatting

Discussed are changes in women's participation in Dutch general education. These changes tend to follow a pattern. With the help of statistical materials for a period of several decades (1875-1980), a tentative descriptive model is developed-the educational emancipation function. The function is mathematically translated in the Riccati model (an adapted logistic curve) presented by H. Levenbach ('A Generalization of the Logistic Growth Function and Its Estimation,' Statistica Neederlandica, 1973, 27). It is concluded that females have gained a small majority at the modern secondary education level. At the higher advanced education/gymnasium level, they remain a minority. Despite greater participation of females in all types of education, some programs remain typically male or F. Directive policy measures are needed to change this situation. 6 Tables, 5 Figures. Modified HA.
