To determine attitudes toward the interrelationship of government-sponsored research & the politicization of science in the Netherlands, questionnaire data were collected from doctoral students & degreed specialists in solid state physics (total N = 78) at 4 different institutions. Analysis of the data reveals a positive r between depoliticization & degree of scientific dogmatism; ie, the closer the ties between government & research, the less insistent are researchers on the independent validity of their findings. 3 Tables, 2 References.
