A review of the validity & reliability of a new occupational prestige scale for the Netherlands developed in the 1980s (see SA 33:5/85Q1898). The following criticisms are presented: (1) the projective character of the main research question introduces vague answers; (2) systematic bias is introduced through the wording of occupational titles; & (3) the utilized scale is akin to outmoded techniques of computation.
