Samenvatting
To investigate current trends in Dutch sociology, a content analysis was conducted of 658 articles from Dutch journals of sociology & related fields published 1979-1981. Citation data were analyzed, showing that Dutch sociology is heavily fragmented, addressing a wide variety of Dutch audiences & generally lacking consensus in theory & method. Inasmuch as cited texts are standard symbols, citation patterns & contexts reflect common features in language & scope of interest rather than the shared use of explicit theories or methods. Only a few strong, coherent schools of sociology exist, centered around key journals or U departments. 4 Tables, 8 Figures, 20 References. Modified HA
