The sociology of law has been greatly affected by various theories of knowledge & learning central to the social sciences. Many legal sociologists are baffled by the increasing cacophony of information addressing the concept of law, but sociologists of law can now take advantage of many new research techniques & sources. In this light, Kees Schuyt's speech, "Ongeregeld heden" ([Contemporary Disorder], unpublished, delivered 11 June 1982) is criticized for its treatment of the sociolegal aspects of the Dutch welfare state.
