Samenvatting

Economic data from the Netherlands & the Federal Republic of Germany are used to examine how women's participation in the labor market changed from 1960 to 1985. In 1960 many German women continued to work outside the home after marriage, while Dutch women did not. By 1985 most of these differences between the two countries had disappeared; however, in the Netherlands, inclusion of women in the labor force still lags hehind, & considerable gender discrimination remains. Although both countries show similarities in the scale & nature of women's work, national features are still recognizable. 8 Tables, 2 Graphs, 16 References. Adapted from the source document.
