sociometric status, U. Bronfenbrenner's 2-dimensional model
Samenvatting
U. Bronfenbrenner's two-dimensional model of sociometric status ("A Constant Frame of Reference for Sociometric Research. Part II: Experiment and Inference," Sociometry, 1944, 7, 40-75) has been in common use since 1979. It is contended here that sociometric status does in fact have two dimensions, but that Bronfenbrenner's dimensions -- sympathy & antipathy -- are in fact two poles of one dimension; the other is "visibility" or "impact" of the individual under observation. The low correlation value of the double-ended dimension is explained & found to be related to the asymmetry of the variables. 2 Tables, 1 Figure, 19 References. Modified AA
