Samenvatting
A report on the construction of a taxonomy of structures & processes of production control used in work organizations, primarily based on a political perspective of organizations. Production control is the sum of social structures & processes that contribute to the continuity of the production process. The taxonomy is generated by placing the processes -- imposition of production demands, resource allocation, conflict management, & socialization -- on the y-axis of a matrix. The x-axis consists of central regulation of the production process (subdivided into strong automation, strong mechanization, strong regulation, & direct supervision), control of the production output (subdivided into semiautonomous groups, matrix & project structures), & correction after complaints during delivery (subdivided into craft, professional, & collectivist structures). 55 References.
