Samenvatting

Continuation of an investigation of gender differences in the effects of education on occupational level. The first part (see SA 35:3/87R5999) found that returns to education in terms of occupational prestige were smaller for women than for men in 1979, even when work experience, marital status, & presence of children variables were specified. For 1960, this was also the case, except for higher educated Fs. Comparison of data for 1960 & 1979 shows that returns to education were smaller in 1979 than in 1960, & that gender differences had increased over time. The different selection of Fs in the labor market in 1969 & 1979 is discussed as an important explanation for the findings. 6 Tables, 32 References. Modified HA
