Samenvatting

According to H. B. G. Ganzeboom's theory (see SA 33:4/85O9772), differential participation in high cultural activities can be explained by individual differences in intelligence & cultural training. A structural model is presented, in which participation in high culture depends on age, urbanization, SES, education, occupation, & income; data from the Dutch Life Situation Surveys of 1977 & 1983 are used to test this model. Information theory is largely supported by the results, but some of the relationships are left unexplained. 5 Tables, 1 Figure, 1 Appendix, 13 References. Modified HA
