Samenvatting
How educational innovations have influenced pupils' commitment to school & studying is examined, using longitudinal data collected between 1979 & 1984 from 358 students attending either a traditional or an innovative type of secondary school in Belgium. Results of multiple classification & multiple regression analysis show that both types of commitment decrease with age. School commitment decreases much less among pupils at innovative schools, but there is no such difference for study commitment. Parental encouragement is much more influential on both attitudes in traditional than in innovative schools. Possible explanations for these findings are considered. 8 Tables, 1 Figure, 21 References. Modified HA
