The dynamic view in the sociology of organizations & an integrated theory of organizational change

Samenvatting

There is a tendency in the sociol of org's towards a more dynamic point of view, which has resulted in a lot of psychol'al, sociol'al, & org'al descriptions of processes & phenomena, connected with the problems of change within an org. The necessity of an integrated theory of org'al change can hardly be overemphasized. Such a theory could be named the "org'al dynamics." The 2 forms of change are (A) innovation/renewal (fully non-programmatic decisions), & (B) managing the effects of innovation/renewal (continuous questions of adaptations in subsystems of an org after an innovation); there will be, in any org, a continuous sequence of these 2 forms. Taking this sequence as a base, a 6-step analytical model of the process of innovation can be developed. Such a model throws new light on some questions of structure & functioning of an org (eg, relations with environment, COMM networks, structure of power). AA.
