Sociol'ts who occupied themselves with the sociol'al problems of industr democracy could be categorized as either structuralists (emphasizing the relation between function & form, eg, T. Parsons, & A. Etzioni), interactionalists (focusing on att's & COMM, eg, C. Argyris, R. Likert), or relationalists (who find a synthesis between structuralism & interactionalism, eg, J. G. March, H. A. Simon, P. Blau, & G. Homans). On the basis of relationalism a systems theoretical paradigm of an industr org can be developed. From this model a system of hyp's on the relation between flexibility, autonomy & the probability of success of democratization in an org is proposed. AA.
