The presentation of a proposed typology of sociol'al res. The 2 chief difficulties in establishing a generally accepted typology are: (1) there are serious divisions between individual res'ers as to what constitutes acceptable types; & (2) the dimensions of the proposed types fall short of 'ideal-types.' The following typology is proposed: (A) exploratory-formulating, primarily oriented towards the formulation of theories; (B) exp'al, primarily oriented towards the testing of theories; (C) descriptive, primarily oriented towards the 'individual case.' This typology is compared to other typologies, developed by I. Gadourek, H. Hyman, E. V. W. Vercruijsse, & H. Philipsen. I. Langnas.
