Demographic parameters raise the problem of the character of the pop of which they are characteristic. In Belgium, for instance, the demographic situation is not the same in northern & southern regions. The northern part of Belgium, Flanders, is Dutch-speaking, & the southern part is French-speaking; Brussels can be characterizes as a bilingual area. The demographic situation in Belgium is completely diff in these 3 parts. As a result there is not only a linguistic frontier but also a demographical one. Both frontiers are congruent. In Belgium the distribution of the pop has changed between 1910 & 1960. There is a relative increase in Flanders, a relative decrease in Wallonia. This means that the Dutch-speaking pop is outgrowing the French-speaking one. Demographical statistics are cited in support of this hyp. Modified AA.
